SESAME SEEDS – EXCELLENT FOR THE LIVER 3

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Everyone in the Near East, particularly in Palestine, knows the sesame plant, uses and cherishes it. There, the seeds are sold under the quaint name ‘sumsum’. Seeds have always played an important part in the nutrition of primitive or aboriginal peoples. The gathering of all kinds of seeds has always been vital in areas of the world where there is limited variety regarding food. Sometimes it is the little things that provide supplementary benefits, and this can certainly be said about sesame seeds. Let us therefore not ignore the seeds because they are so small, but enjoy them to the full.

CHRONIC CONSTIPATION – NATURAL REMEDIES 2

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

There are a number of different basic causes of constipation. Nervous tension may be responsible for it, malfunction of the liver has already been mentioned, and pancreatic insufficiency can also contribute to poor bowel movement. However, diet is probably the main factor. The various causes of constipation require specific treatment.

The farmer knows that he cannot keep his animals in the stable all the time; they need exercise and a change of diet from time to time. We can take a lesson from this and make sure we get enough exercise and pay attention to our choice of food and its variation. Avoid all constipating food items and particularly chocolate and sweets. Likewise, we would do well to keep off cheese, eggs and egg dishes. Instead, eat plenty of carrots, raw sauerkraut, and bitter salads such as dandelion and chicory. Over a long period of time, it is beneficial to eat soaked prunes and walnuts for breakfast, together with a slice of wholegrain bread. Alternate this breakfast with muesli and ground linseed. During the berry season eat plenty of muesli with fresh berries added, instead of bread. As far as possible, avoid dough products made with bleached white flour and any other starchy foods. On the other hand, natural brown rice causes no complications when boiled so that the grains do not stick together. Potatoes, however, may turn out to be constipating.

EPILEPSY – TRAGIC HEREDITARY FACTORS (GENETIC PREDISPOSITIONS)

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

With this in mind, it is not unreasonable for young people, before they think of getting married, to make a point of examining their particular genetic predispositions in order to determine whether starting a family appears to be advisable, bearing in mind the possible problems concerning their children’s health. If, however, they should choose to take the risk anyhow, it is even more important to consider the question of health very carefully, since much harm can be avoided through adopting a reasonable approach and by taking the appropriate action. Naturally, if the persons involved are inexperienced and have no idea whatsoever of the possible consequences, they will not be able to take any precautionary measures.

THE KIDNEYS – HARMFUL INFLUENCES (SUGAR)

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Aside from the heart and the liver, no other organ suffers more from the consequences of our modern life-style and refined foods than the kidneys. In my practice I have been able to observe time and again the extent of the damage white sugar has done to them. Often a kidney patient has been relieved of his pains simply by abstaining from all foods containing sugar. Just to prove the point, the patient would again be given sugar on a test basis and, sure enough, the pains would return. However, this holds true only for products made with refined sugar, whereas natural sugars as contained in dried grapes (for example raisins), figs, bananas and other fruits never cause any such complications.

It is also generally known that the kidneys can be rendered a great service and protected if the intake of salt is reduced to a minimum. Bacterial poisons, likewise, have a detrimental effect on them. That is why infectious diseases such as measles, scarlet fever, diphtheria, tonsillitis and others, always have an adverse effect. Permanent damage can be prevented if proper care is taken to cure these diseases fully, and by making sure that the kidneys function properly during and after an illness. This is best done by taking the excellent plant extract of Solidago, as contained in Nephrosolid, a remedy that should be kept in every home.

LEG ULCERS (FEELING OF DIZZINESS)

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

If high blood pressure is noted, indicated by a feeling of dizziness, do not neglect to treat it. Viscum album, Crataegus and arnica are well-known remedies that have a regenerating effect on the blood vessels. Further advice is given in the section on hypertension (see pages 124—9). It may be that the heart requires strengthening too. All these factors have to be assessed according to each case.

It goes without saying that an appropriate diet is essential for any healing process, if it is to be successful. If by now you have come to terms with the meaning of natural therapy, it should not be necessary to re-emphasise this fact. Cleansing the body from inside requires a diet that is low in salt and protein. Meat consumption should be reduced to a bare minimum, or better still, eliminated altogether until a complete recovery has been achieved. Pork, sausages and all other processed meats, eggs, cheese, white sugar and flour, as well as canned foods, should all be avoided. In their place eat plenty of natural wholefoods, including steamed vegetables, raw salads and wholegrain products.

The above recommendations are intended to help all those who suffer from leg ulcers. If you recognise and follow these important principles of natural therapy, your recovery and future well-being will be within your reach.
